ScaleUp Ventures began with a group of friends who wanted to help entrepreneurs. Too many good businesses stall because the owner could not find one team to brand it, build it, and help it grow. We can.

Our Mission

We started ScaleUp Ventures because we kept running into the same problem. Small and mid-size businesses were getting outpaced by competitors with better technology, better design, and better systems. Not because those competitors were smarter, but because they had bigger budgets. We decided to fix that.

Before ScaleUp, we built products. OfferPath is a job-seeker and employer marketplace. Get2Friday is in development. We have shipped real software, made real product decisions, and taken ideas from a whiteboard to a working product.

ScaleUp is based in Charlotte, NC, and works with clients remotely, wherever the business is. Every project is founder-led, so you are always talking to the people doing the work.

Co-Founder & CEO

Calvin Williams Jr.

A founder who knows how to turn complex ideas into practical technology and scalable companies.

Calvin is the founder and CEO of ScaleUp Ventures, where he helps owners use strategy, websites, automation, custom software, and AI to solve real business problems. He has bought, operated, and sold service businesses, so he has seen acquisition, growth, and exit firsthand.

Before ScaleUp, Calvin built and sold XMG Online, then built and led Freeman Capital, the first Black-owned, SEC-registered automated wealth-management platform. Freeman Capital raised $4 million in venture funding with backing from organizations including Google and Northwestern Mutual. He has also managed and deployed global enterprise software projects, built web applications for state and federal government, and worked as a Registered Investment Advisor.

Ray Addison II

Helps leaders turn AI ambition into practical organizational change.

Together with leadership, Ray identifies where AI can create meaningful value, increase capacity, improve decisions, and strengthen execution, then helps translate those opportunities into practical strategies, governed workflows, operating systems, and adoption plans.

Ray's strength is connecting technology to strategy, grounding it in real operating conditions, building appropriate governance around it, and making sure the organization can use, manage, and improve what is created.

Earlier in their career, Ray led strategy, product, innovation, and transformation work across automotive, mobility, technology, and growth-stage companies, including enterprise transformation within Mercedes-Benz USA and Daimler Trucks North America.

Robin Hendrix

Brand strategy, UX, and creative direction, with more than 20 years behind it.

Robin is a multidisciplinary brand strategist, UX leader, and creative director with more than 20 years of experience across design, marketing, and digital experiences. She helps businesses turn their ideas into clear, distinctive brands through brand strategy, logo development, website design, and web and mobile app experiences.

Robin brings together business goals, customer insight, and visual storytelling. At ScaleUp Ventures, she makes sure every product feels cohesive, intuitive, and true to the people and businesses it represents.
